Australian Hugh Bowman (right) took victory in the four-race competition, with Ryan Moore (left) finishing runner-up.

Bowman's reward for his night's work was a check for $65,000.

Competitors round the bend under the floodlights, with Hong Kong's skyline in the background.

Just under 30,000 people were in attendance to witness Bowman's victory, the biggest crowd the competition has drawn since 1999.
